Hi, it's me...

Hi, it’s me…

I am a Mother of 3 and grandmother of 5. I am a recently retired Baby Boomer born in 1949. I have wanted to write for a very long time, but didn’t have the time. Isn’t that always the excuse? The loss of my job in February of 2015 took care of that. After I got the news, I was upset, scared, shocked…all of the above, but then I tried to look at the situation I found myself in as a beginning instead of an ending. What was it I always wanted to do but never did, due to lack of time? The answer came to mind quickly, almost as if that light bulb they always talk about went off. Write. Now, I will be the first to tell you I am not a writer by any stretch of the imagination, nor do I pretend to be. I had done a little bit of writing in school and then again when my kids were little. I took some “Writing Children’s Literature” classes and even got a diploma. I sent a variety of stories, books and short stories off to no avail and so I gave up. I did put them together as books and even illustrated them myself and read them to my kids. They loved them.. But I digress.. In other words, the time has come for me to write. And write I will.

I have so much to say and talk about. Anyone who knows me will agree with this statement. OK, I do say whatever comes to mind and speak out when asked or even when not asked. I have a social media presence and have started some groups on Facebook. But there is so much more I want to talk about and share and now I have a forum for that. This blog. The name of the blog came to me first, because I want to share helpful tips and second because when I was a kid my Dad called me a little “Hellion.”

I love sharing tips on some of my many interests, including but not limited to, health/wellness, fashion/beauty, and also just about life in general.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoy my blog.

  1. A small piece of detective work. The Capezios that I remember in the style of the red pair belonging to your friend have a broad toe. The ones that I remember had a more almond shaped toe… approx. 1962 maybe 1960. Does your friend remember when she bought them? And Yes, they are gems to be cherished.

      1. There is a black pair on pinterest with the “almond toe”. Do you know the size of your friend’s shoes? I am at the age where childhood was “long. long ago in a faraway land”. But I think that I remember an elementary teacher wearing this shoe. That would have been the early 50s. Am wondering if the toe shape changed over time, or was more a function of foot size, or even a function of where it was marketed.

  2. I had a similar situation, and retired in 2012 and began blogging and writing. I took a children’s literature course as well. I write a couple of blogs, one marshajustwrites.com for new and hobby bloggers to help with the everyday messes we come across when we blog or write, the other is just me, tchistorygal.wordpress.com. You may have more than one twin out here in blogland! 🙂

      1. I took it with a fellow blogger from Australia. Over the years we became such good friends that she came to see me last year, and I went there this year. Thus my posts on Australia. 🙂 Another sister.:)

        1. Very cool..I don’t do anything with all the info I learned in The Childrens Literature Course…maybe I should start again..

          1. It has been so long since I did it…My kids were very young, one of the reasons I did it…I wrote a few and sent them off and crickets..so I stopped. I had kids to raise. They are now in their 40’s.

  3. I think we’re twins. Loving your blog. Recently forced to retire, and a couple yrs younger, buy you’re background and musings are very much the same as mine. Keep talking/blogging. I’m lovin’ it. Thanks so much for being the Hellion Voice. My dad’s term for me too, back in the day…..

    1. OMgosh! That is very cool that your Dad called you the same thing as mine. I think they were just being funny…at least I think they were… I am so glad you can relate to my blog! Thank you Nancy!

  4. HI, I found you on the Bloggess’ page. How long have you been blogging? I’m a new blogger myself, it’s been less than a month. But I’m really enjoying it. I had never even looked at a blog until I found Jenny and now I’m finding out how very many blogs are out there. I wish I had more time to write and such, too. But such is life. I keep telling myself “progress not perfection.” I’ll be back to look some more. Underneath this, there are two boxes that can be checked and I’m guessing that they are for signing up for blog posts and emails but there are no words showing up, just the boxes. Figured you want to know. I wish I didn’t have to worry about the tehnical stuff my self but I guess that’s part of the “costs” of having a blog. 🙂

    1. Thanks Marcie! I have been blogging since Feb of this year. If you look down further on my home page there are places to sign up to follow me. I have a few followers so I know it works. I am writing because I always wanted to…

      1. I’m all signed up. I got your reply in my email but none of the links worked. I’m in my phone so figured maybe that’s why. I can try from the computer later. I always click my own stuff and I checked my own email notifications today and found things I had to fix. Technology is great. Until it isn’t. 🙂
